One thing some people forgets when in SL, is that others can be from everywhere on the globe ... You get a group-notice with title "Morning dress", and the description: Wether in your night-gown, boxers or oooo nothing, come and party with DJ BigEgo and hostess TipMeBigTits Now!
When you're part of SecondLife, you gonna get used to it ... That and alot more. It feels quite akward of course, to get a morning greeting when in the process of making dinner, lunch - or just about slip off for the day, going to bed ... And fair enough. The origin of this natural, but very faulthy behaviour can be found in a few facts:
People in SL is joining from all timezones, but rarely all countries. We are big mix. But it wasn't always like that. In the old days SL was quite local, and definately not over the borders of SL - atleast not enough for the US-people to notice.
Second Life expanded, and still many people thought they were addressing the street lunatic when arguing about names, times and behaviour. "I'm from Europe" was like declaiming an marsian status ... Weird, though by nature very unreal, and surely something one shouldn't count in.
Now, there's still groups and people around that says "morning" in the late night, "evening" when you're about go to your day-job ...
Funny, isn't it?! It is, but it's also annoying at times.
When we know someone in person, it's natural to grab their time, their situation and address just that, and they return the favour.
People who's old in SL also knows how to do that when addressing a crowd, but sometimes refrains from it ... Out of stubbordness? Whatever, it's stupid ! There's always several millions of people who is in a different timezone than you, and you don't know for sure who you're addressing!
